The 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start. I am happy to be teaching both 6th and 7th grade math this year. Both grade levels have hit the ground running with out one-to-one Chrome book initiative. This year we are implementing CANVAS, an online learning management system. CANVAS provides a more efficient way for teachers to share digital content. Lessons will include assignments, videos, discussions and games. Students will also be maintaining a math notebook (AKA graph paper composition book.) The purpose of this notebook is to help students stay organized and accumulate a set of notes they can refer back to as necessary. This year, we are also using Khan Academy to reinforce skills. Sometimes, specific lessons will be assigned. At other times, students may work on any math skill they choose. I strongly recommend that students work on skills that are a grade-level below, for purposes of review and reinforcement. Please let me know how you feel the school year is going and if there is anything I can do to help your child succeed. I look forward to meeting all of you at Back-to-School Night on Thursday, Sept. 17th.
